255 European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) credits are required for the department’s four-year Bachelor degree. 70% of the taught courses are compulsory to all students, while 30% are dedicated for specialisation in Archival studies, Library Science or Museology. There is also the option of mixing two of the three specialisations. Two postgraduate programmes of study are available: one of them leads to a Master’s Degree; the second leads to a Doctorate Degree (PhD).
All programmes of study are offered in Greek, while PhD studies can be accomplished in other languages (at the time, the department supports PhD students in English).
The Department of Archives and Library Science occupies the second floor of the Ionian University’s most recent building, at 72 Ioannou Theotoki Street. Its state-of-the-art installations premises include five specially arranged teaching halls, teaching staff offices, the Secretariat, two computer labs and three research and teaching laboratories.
